VAST is a standard developed by the IAB and it means “Video Ad Serving Template”. This template contains all the information needed for video advertising. It’s a script which is giving consistent instructions to the publisher’s video player on how to handle a video ad.
It tells the video player how the ad should appear in the player, how long it should be displayed, whether or not it is skippable, what the click-through URL should be and what data to send back to ad server.
VPAID is one version of VAST tag which adds a new dimension – user interaction. The introduction of VPAID standards allows compliant video players to display interactive, rich media ads, also known as an “executable ad unit”. VPAID builds upon VAST to enable rich ad experiences, and enhanced viewer analytics.
There are several versions of VAST tag standards. Adcash platform supports 2.0, 3.0 and the latest 4.0 formats. By default our ad server outputs the latest implemented version, if you need the tag in an older version then please take a look at implementation page here. At the moment Adcash platform supports campaign creation only with 3rd party VAST tags. This means that to create and run a campaign on the Adcash platform you should possibility to use a tag created on another platform.
